Client authentication helps maintain the security and privacy of your clients' information. To mitigate risks associated with theft and fraud, Schwab has implemented the following security features:

  • Voice ID—An easy, secure, verification method offered to clients when calling the Schwab Alliance team. Voice ID uses your clients' unique voice characteristics to authenticate their permissions to access an account.
  • Household viewing—When clients enroll in Schwab Alliance, they will see only accounts associated with their Social Security number–they will not be able to see accounts that belong to members of their household. Schwab requires a completed and signed Power of Attorney (Individual POA) form or a View Only Authorization form to grant access between household member accounts. See How to add power of attorney to an account or How to grant View Only access to Schwab accounts for more information.
  • Device Validation—When logging into Schwab Alliance with a device that Schwab does not recognize, your clients will be asked for additional validation prior to accessing the website. The process requires your client to use a one-time access code provided by Schwab. The access code can be retrieved via text message or phone call. Upon receiving the access code, clients can mark the device as trusted for future use and skip the additional validation when logging in with that individual device.
  • Two Factor Authentication—Provides your clients with an additional layer of security when accessing Schwab Alliance. Clients can elect to use a security token they'll access through the free Verisign app or receive a one-time security code via text message when leveraging two-factor authentication. To self-enroll, your clients can go to the Security Center on schwaballiance.com.
