    • Mutual Fund Select List Advisor Edition™ is an extensively researched list of actively managed, no-load, no-transaction-fee mutual funds, screened and selected by Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM).

Not all mutual funds from an asset manager may be available as INTF funds. Go to Schwab Advisor Center > Research > Mutual Funds to review the available list of INTF funds. 

  • Use the ETF screener to compare funds based on predefined criteria or criteria you choose.
  • Access ETF resources:
    • ETF Select List® Tooltip contains prescreened, low-cost ETFs representing about 66 asset categories, making it easier for you to find ETFs for a particular market segment. The list highlights just one (primarily cost based analysis, not performance) ETF per category.
  • The CEFs tab presents market information for multiple categories of closed-end funds.
  • View summary and detailed information for an ETF, including news, performance data, tax comparisons, distributions, a portfolio breakdown, option chains, and holdings.
Fixed income
  • Access thousands of fixed income products.
  • Use the New Issues Municipal Calendar tab in Fixed Income Trading for online access to new issue municipal bond offerings.
  • View current and historical yield performance of U.S. Treasury notes and their respective key rates.

* Many mutual funds have multiple share class options. More than 15,000 fund CUSIPS are offered on Schwab's platforms. Fund count data as of 9/30/15.

Do I have to pay for research?
Schwab’s proprietary research, including Morningstar, is provided to advisors free of charge. Some third-party research, including Ned Davis Research and InvesTech, is available at a discount. For more information, view a list of third-party resources and discounts.

How often is the market data on the website updated?
Update frequency varies depending on the type of market data. For example:

  • Quotes: Quotes displayed on the Research tab are based on Cboe-One Real-Time Quote or consolidated market quote unless otherwise indicated and are real time when initially displayed. To get the latest quote, click Refresh at the top of the page.
  • Stocks: Changes to financial data, earnings, etc., are updated nightly or as reported by the company. Daily changes in analyst recommendations on an individual company are updated within minutes of the change.
  • Mutual funds: Most of the mutual fund performance information displayed on the Research tab is updated monthly from Morningstar. Some data is updated daily (e.g., changes to fees or status codes) or quarterly as noted on various pages in the site.
  • ETFs: Performance and portfolio information is updated monthly, like mutual funds. Quotes and price performance information are updated throughout the day.

How do I access Morningstar reports?
Morningstar® Equity Research - including ratings, analyst and sector reports, daily insights, and pick lists-is integrated with the Research section of the site.

How do I set alerts to learn about price and ratings changes, dividend reports, and other important market news?
From the Research page, click Tools > Alerts > My Alert Preferences to set your email address. Then click My Alerts to subscribe to securities, market commentary, and bond alerts.

What other research tools are available?
In addition to watchlists and numerous alerts relating to markets and individual securities, Schwab has robust screeners for stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds that allow you to specify dozens of criteria. Powerful comparison tools and charting features are also available under Research Tools. Screeners, comparisons, and charts can be saved and retrieved later.

Use the Fund Contact List to contact a mutual fund family.

Investment returns will fluctuate and are subject to market volatility, so that an investor’s shares, when redeemed or sold, may be worth more or less than their original cost. Unlike mutual funds, shares of ETFs are not individually redeemable directly with the ETF. Shares are bought and sold at market price, which may be higher or lower than the net asset value (NAV).

Schwab's short-term redemption fee of US$49.95 will be charged on redemption of certain funds with no transaction fees and held for 90 days or less. Schwab reserves the right to exempt certain funds from this fee which may charge a separate redemption fee, and funds that accommodate short-term trading. Funds are subject to management fees and expenses.

Trades in no load funds available through Mutual Fund OneSource® service [including Schwab Funds], as well as certain other funds, are available without transaction fees. For each of these trade orders placed through a broker, a $25 service charge applies.
